A downloadable game

four friends and one camera — you decide how the shoot unfolds.

they have a camera, a few ideas, and enough free time to convince themselves this might actually work.

so, naturally, they start filming!

  • an afternoon here.
  • a scene there.
  • a lot of messing around in between.
it's supposed to be a simple little project to work on together during autumn.

and for a while, it is.

🎬 about

amateurs, action! is a short narrative game about three friends making a movie together.

You'll spend time with them, explore their surroundings (that change as they move out of your camera's lens), film scenes, and see their story unfold over the course of an autumn.

It's not really about making a good movie.

It's about the time they spend making one.

 🕹️ gameplay

you are the director of your own film, commanding the entire set—which happens to be the schoolyard.

you must move the camera and focus it on specific subjects—whether they are friends, passersby, or objects in the environment—and then select one of three actions for that subject (such as having a character jump or stand still).

the impact these elements have on your friends determines the film's genre (comedy, drama, or horror) and the mood balance (good vs. angry); these factors decide whether your film succeeds or fails—and ultimately, the note on which the group of friends concludes the project.
